Now that elections are over in the U.S. all those campaign signs in the medians of American streets and highways are disappearing fast. Usually people have a couple of weeks to remove them. I've discovered a good astronomical use for them: as a dew shield for a laptop. The rigid type of sign made of corrugated plastic can be cut with scissors and fashioned into a nice flat-folding laptop dew shield, using duct tape for the folding joints and Velcro to attach to the laptop or screen shield. Unlike cardboard, corrugated plastic is waterproof. So grab a few while you can- most will probably be thrown away or (hopefully) recycled. You can also buy corrugated plastic signs in the hardware section of some stores.
